Well, I was smart enough not to have gotten past the first page!
Brilliant essay, and one of the "Who knew?" tribe I so much love to read. Who would have dreamed of a link between a deep diving ocean mammal and a desert plant?! This world is an amazing place.
I admit my impish impulse in making that comment, and am enjoying hearing from multiple readers that they have indeed read the whole thing. Three so far, and I am sure, more to come. Sadly, I am not one of them.
I always vaguely wondered about jojoba, seeing it on lists of ingredients in lotions and other cosmetics, but never enough to look it up. Thanks for enlightening me. However, I have long been interested in whales, and whaling. I chose to read Moby Dick, appreciating the details greatly, as well as the characters and plot. There are a few of us.
Thanks for yet another fascinating juxtaposition.

Walter, you've met more than one! Moby Dick is a great read about whaling seafarers. An interesting informative and exciting story. - Doug

Keep on imping. Much enjoyment on this end!

I am pleased to meet someone who has actually read Moby Dick to the end! Sadly, I am not one of them. Maybe I'll try again.
